ends a (Fig. 123) of the original dimensions, and fullering them diagonally for scarfing (see a), which shows the T-piece finished for welding). The iron, B, that is to form the remainder of the ring, will be curved, and fullered, and scarfed at the ends to match the T-piece, A.

At this stage the ring will be less than the finished diameter—say by about \ inch, dependent on the bulk . of the work—to allow for working and finishing subsequent to welding, which stretches the iron. The spindle will be welded with a scarfed joint on to the free end a, or if the spindle is short it may be drawn down from the T-piece itself.
